FUNDAMENTALS IN OCCLUSION
ALPHA & OMEGA PROTOCOL
22ND – 23RD MARCH 2025
“The alpha and omega” means the beginning and the end. In dentistry the alpha and omega are occlusions. The phase of diagnosis, planning and final adjustments of any restorative treatment must be executed based on occlusion principles. The course “The Alpha and Omega Protocol” develops a sequence of diagnostic assessment and planning for cases of different complexity, from a single restoration, and modification of a sector or quadrant to a full occlusal reconstruction.
• Learn the fundamentals of occlusion and criteria of normality.
• Understand how to apply a functional evaluation and determine treatment objectives.
• Identify the signs and symptoms of occlusal disease.
• Recognize the need to use different types of articulators and records depending on the complexity of the case.
• Develop the skills to correct the anterior guidance in models mounted by progressive wax-up.
• Understand how to determine the mandibular position and working height by varying the vertical dimension.
• Learn how to make the induction and deprogramming of patients using a multifunctional deprogrammer, Jig of Lucia and occlusal guard.
• Develop the skills to make a centric relation record.
• Understand the protocol for full mouth reconstruction by a progressive wax-up of a clinical case with the occlusal disease.
