The demand for indirect prostheses is growing globally due to their minimally invasive approach, offering reliable dentition restoration and reducing complications associated with conventional fixed prostheses. While traditional methods remain a staple in both simple and complex prosthodontic cases, integrating both adhesive and conventional approaches allows for enhanced treatment outcomes.
This intensive three-day course on indirect prostheses explores essential treatment planning, evidence-based techniques, and practical solutions for clinical challenges in fixed prosthodontics. Participants will gain hands-on experience to refine their clinical skills and deliver top-quality results. Designed to enhance confidence in providing fixed prosthodontic care, this course empowers clinicians to incorporate both indirect adhesive restorations and conventional approaches seamlessly in practice.
- Discuss the case selection and treatment planning in contemporary prosthodontic cases
- Discuss the material selection
- Rationalize the indications, contraindications, advantages, disadvantages and principles of tooth preparation for each type of indirect restorations
- Preform the step-by step tooth preparation, impression, provisional restoration, surface treatment and cementation protocol of indirect fixed dental prostheses.
- Optimize and plan the designs of indirect fixed dental prostheses.
- Clinical problem solving in fixed prosthodontics.
Course Coordinator
Associate Professor Dr. Siti Mariam
Associate Professor Dr Siti Mariam works in the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Teknologi MARA as Deputy Dean Academic and Consultant Prosthodontist registered under the Malaysian National Specialist Registrar. She obtained her Master in Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) after completing a 3-year specialist training from the University of Edinburgh in 2011.
Currently, she is teaching fixed and removable prosthodontics to undergraduate and postgraduate students in UiTM and is a visiting lecturer in other dental schools. She has been invited as an external examiner for professional examinations and thesis locally and internationally. She had the opportunity to work at Minnesota Dental Research Centre for Biomaterial and Biomechanics, USA (2016) and King Saud University, Riyadh (2019) as a research visiting scholar. Her team has secured multiple grants to conduct research in Malaysia with international collaborators in the field of dental material and prosthodontics. She has presented her research findings and clinical cases at international platforms and published journal articles and undergraduate restorative dentistry textbooks. To date, she is the President for International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Malaysian Section, Councilor for the Asian Academy of Prosthodontics (AAP) and Councilor of IADR South-East-Asia Division.
Dr. Nurul Huda Hasan
Dr. Nurul Huda Hasan graduated Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2004 before joining the oral surgery department HKL for 10 years. She then had a stint of working in Dubai where she sat for MFDS exam in Abu Dhabi. She completed a Comprehensive Certification Licensing in Implantology offered by the University of Berne, Switzerland and the University of Sharjah, UAE in 2013. She later obtained the MSc of Aesthetic Dentistry in the year of 2013. She was also nominated as Fellow of the International College of Dentists (FICD) in 2014. Dr. Nurul’s interest in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry had brought her to numerous places for trainings and lectures, having been given the responsibility to be the Key Opinion Leader for few principals in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry’s materials and products.
Dr. Nurul is the former President of the Malaysian Association of Aesthetic Dentistry, Vice President of the Asian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and recently had been elected as the Country Coordinator for the European Society of Cosmetic Dentistry in 2019. Her areas of interest are on the analogue and digital smile designs, prefabricated composite resin as an option in smile designing, composite resins and adhesive. Currently, Dr. Nurul is a PhD student in Universiti Teknologi Mara, academic coordinator in The Dental Academy and maintains her clinical practice with some established private practices around KL.
